About the Journal

The Lakehead Law Journal publishes on topics that are connected to learning, teaching and practicing in Northern Ontario and relevant to Canada.  We seek original, unpublished submissions on any topic in the legal field, but we prioritize original submissions that engage with (1) Aboriginal legal issues or Indigenous law; (2) rural, northern, and small firm practice; and/or (3) natural resources and environmental law.

The Lakehead Law Journal invites the submission of articles, case comments, book reviews, and book notes authored by students, academics, and legal practitioners. The LLJ will consider submissions on a rolling basis. Please also note that as a student operated journal a smaller editorial team is in place during the summer months and response times will vary accordingly.

Please reach out to the student Managing Editors at lawjournal@lakeheadu.ca or the Editor-in-Chief, Professor Tenille Brown at Tenille.Brown@lakeheadu.ca if you want to discuss your work. Submissions can be made online here.
